MOSCOW. Oct 29 (Interfax) - The military helicopter that crashed in the residential area of Zhulebino in southeastern Moscow on Tuesday was a trial Kamov Ka-52 helicopter that was undergoing tests as part of a project to develop a deck version for the Mistral helicopter carrier, a source familiar with the situation told Interfax.
"The Ka-52 helicopter was flying a trial mission under a program to develop a deck version for the Mistral helicopter-carrier," he said.
The helicopter went into an uncontrollable spin and crashed, he said.
It was partially destroyed by the impact with the ground, he added.
