Helicopter fell some 100 meters away from apartment blocks in Moscow

MOSCOW. Oct 30 (Interfax) - A Ka-52 helicopter that crashed in the neighborhood of Zhulebino in the southeastern part of Moscow on Tuesday fell right near the fence of the helicopter plant, touching several trees while falling down, an Interfax correspondent reported from the scene.

The actual place of the crash is within the guarded territory, but it is just about 50 meters away from a street and 100 meters away from apartment blocks.

Several trees are broken near the scene. Policemen have cordoned off part of the sidewalk so that onlookers could not approach the fence.

The Defense Ministry had told Interfax-AVN earlier that the Ka-52 did not belong to Russia's Air Force.

"Russian Air Force helicopters did not fly in the Zhulebino area on Tuesday," a ministry spokesperson said.

"The Ka-52 helicopter that crash-landed had been undergoing tests at the Kamov design bureau as part of the research and development work. It was piloted by test-pilots from the Kamov company," he said.
