Four Iskander and Tochka-U missiles fired during surprise check of troops

MOSCOW. Oct 31 (Interfax-AVN) - Formations of rocket troops and ordnance from the Central and Southern Military Districts fired four Iskander and Tochka-U tactical missiles in the course of a surprise exercise of nuclear deterrence forces, aerospace defense, Navy and strategic aviation, the Defense Ministry press service reports.

"Combat units of rocket troops and ordnance of the Central and Southern Military Districts fired four Iskander and Tochka-U tactical missiles at training targets at Kapustin Yar firing range in Astrakhan region on October 30, 2013 in the framework of a surprise check and exercise of nuclear deterrence forces, aerospace defense, Naval and strategic aviation conducted under the leadership of the President and Supreme Commander-in-Chief," a report received by Interfax-AVN on Wednesday says.

"The missiles successfully destroyed training targets at a distance of over 100 kilometers from launching positions," the press release says.
