MOSCOW. Nov 1 (Interfax) - The man who broke into the building of a magistrate court in Kurgan on Friday exploded three grenades, not one, and numerous casualties were averted as a result of professional actions taken by bailiffs, the press service for the Federal Bailiff Service told Interfax.
"There is information that citizen Vdovin, who had a conviction, broke through a bailiff post and exploded three RGD-5 grenades while being detained by them," the press service told Interfax on Friday.
The explosions killed Vdovin and bailiff Mikhail Malinnikov and injured two people, the source said.
The administration of the Federal Bailiff service will request that the bailiffs who stopped the criminal be given state awards, and that one of them be awarded posthumously.
The Interior Ministry press service earlier said the explosion of grenade in a Kurgan magistrate court had killed two people and injured two people. Police officers and investigators from the Investigations Committee are now working at the scene.
Tatyana Geil, the head of the press service for the Interior Ministry's Department for the Kurgan region, told Interfax the man carrying a grenade wanted to take it to the courtroom in the Kurgan magistrate court. "There would have been a lot more casualties if the bailiff had not found the grenade and if it had gotten into the courtroom," Geil said.
The bailiff died at the scene and the man who had brought the grenade to the court died on his way to hospital.
The Federal Bailiff Service's Department for the Kurgan region told Interfax the explosion had killed bailiff Mikhail Malinnikov.
"He died before emergency services arrived," the source said.
Condolences to Malinnikov's relatives and loved ones have already been posted on his account on a social networking site. He would have turned thirty on November 25. Judging by a photo on the social networking site, he has recently gotten married.
