Russian, U.S. and UN officials discuss Geneva II preparations

GENEVA. Nov 5 (Interfax) - A Russia-U.S.-UN meeting is being held in Geneva on Tuesday in order to lay the groundwork for the Geneva II international conference on Syria.

All the participants have already gathered at the United Nations Office in Geneva, an Interfax correspondent reported.

Deputy Foreign Ministers Gennady Gatilov and Mikhail Bogdanov lead Russia's delegation to the meeting. The U.S. delegation is headed by Undersecretary of State for Political Affairs Wendy Sherman and U.S. Ambassador Robert Ford, who was recalled from Damascus in February 2012. UN-Arab League peace envoy for Syria Lakhdar Brahimi is attending the event as well.
