EU suggests Iran take first step to meet P5+1 halfway

GENEVA. Nov 7 (Interfax) - Iran should be the first to take a step and meet the P5+1 halfway in the elimination of concerns about its nuclear program, said Michael Mann, spokesman for EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Catherine Ashton.

He told Interfax on Thursday that the negotiations were about the Iranian nuclear program, which worried the international community, and that Iran had to take the first step.

Progress can be made if Iran is cooperative, Mann said, adding that the group needed Iran to be ready for serious interaction.
