MOSCOW. Nov 14 (Interfax) - The Russian Embassy in Cambodia is verifying the alleged detention of the wife of businessman Sergei Polonsky near her husband's prison.
"We are checking this information," head of the consular department of the Russian Embassy in Phnom Penh Pavel Seskanov told Interfax.
A defense lawyer for businessman Sergei Polonsky said earlier Polonsky's wife Olga Deripasko had been detained in Cambodia.
"We have just learned that Polonsky's wife Olga Deripasko has been detained in Cambodia. They took all her documents and put her in a temporary detention facility together with locals," lawyer Alexander Karabanov told Interfax on Thursday.
The local authorities did not give any reasons for Deripasko's detention.
"We are now taking measures to ensure that the Russian consul can meet with Olga," Karabanov said.
