MOSCOW. Nov 28 (Interfax) - Moscow welcomes the decision of the Syrian government to participate in the Geneva II international peace conference for Syria without preconditions, Russian Presidential Representative for the Middle East, Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov told Syrian Ambassador in Moscow Riyad Haddad.
"Russia welcomes the Syrian Foreign Ministry's statement of November 27, which confirms the intention of the Syrian government to send a delegation to Geneva II without preconditions," said a report posted on the Russian Foreign Ministry's website with regard to the Bogdanov-Haddad meeting.
The sides had a detailed discussion of matters related to the convocation of the Geneva II conference on January 22, 2014. In this context Bogdanov shared information about the outcomes of the latest round of the Russia-U.S.-UN consultations preparing the forum, which was held in Geneva on November 25.
