Oboronservice suspect Vasilyeva may be giving signals to her accomplices through press - Markin

MOSCOW. Nov 28 (Interfax) - Investigators will request that the measure of restraint for Oboronservice case suspect Yevgeniya Vasilyeva be toughened, Vladimir Markin from the Investigations Committee said.

"I already said on one television program that the investigators will be requesting that the measure of restraint for Oboronservice case suspect Mrs Vasilyeva be toughened in the nearest future," Markin said in an interview with Vladimir Solovyov on Vesti FM on Thursday.

The program host asked Markin whether Vasilyeva breached her house arrest conditions by giving an interview to a television channel.

Markin said the first-instance court once allowed Vasilyeva to communicate only with her lawyer and investigators, but the court of appeals ruled that the order violated her rights and eventually allowed her to communicate with everyone except for the suspects in the case.

"However, we believe that by talking to journalists she is also talking to the criminal case suspects, giving hem signals," Markin said.

When asked whether the Investigations Committee has the right to file a lawsuit asking for Vasilyeva's measure of restraint to be changed, Markin said: "The investigators intend to do it. I am not even speaking about the toughening of her house arrest conditions - it goes without saying - but the investigators may also request the toughening of the measure of restraint, that is, as you understand, a different measure."
