MOSCOW. Dec 5 (Interfax) - Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in the wings of the Russia-NATO Council ministerial meeting had a meeting with U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry to discuss preparations for Geneva II.
"The situation in and around Syria was discussed, including preparations for the Geneva II conference on the peaceful settlement of the conflict in that country and the course of the disposal of Syrian chemical weapons," the Foreign Ministry website reported on Wednesday.
While exchanging opinions on international problems the sides were satisfied to recognize progress achieved in the negotiating process with Iran which permitted reaching concrete mutually-acceptable understandings in the interests of strengthening nonproliferation and global security, the ministry report says.
