9 militants, including 1 ringleader, killed in North Caucasus over past week

PYATIGORSK. Dec 9 (Interfax-AVN) - Four terror attacks - three shooting incidents and an explosion - were perpetrated in the North Caucasus Federal District from November 30 through December 6, the press service of the Russian Interior Ministry's main department in the North Caucasus Federal District said.

"Police and federal forces stationed in Kabardino-Balkaria killed ringleader Eneyev, one of the leaders of the so-called western sector of the vilayat of Kabarda, Balkaria and Karachai of the Caucasus Emirate, and eight militants and detained six members of illegal armed units," the report said.

One terrorist crime was prevented in the North Caucasus Federal District in that period. One civilian died at the hands of militants, the ministry said.

A cache containing devices for conducting illegal operation was also found. Police seized a grenade launcher, three machine guns, ten submachine guns, eleven handguns, 19 grenades, seven grenade launcher munitions, a projectile, a mine, six homemade bombs and 0.6 kilograms of explosives, it said.
