Lavrov to give report on Russia's foreign policy to Federation Council

MOSCOW. Dec 16 (Interfax) - Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov will give a report in the Russian Federation Council at a "government hour" meeting on December 18.

Lavrov will inform the senators on vital issues of Russia's foreign policy, the Federation Council press service told Interfax.

The press may not be present in the room when Lavrov gives his report, the press service said.

The Wednesday session of the Federation Council will also address a law expanding the use of state symbols and amendments to the law On the State Flag of the Russian Federation and On the State Anthem of the Russian Federation, as well as a number of international agreements that are in the process of being ratified by Russia, specifically, an agreement expanding cooperation in the trade in crude oil between Russia and China and trade regime with Abkhazia and South Ossetia.

Among the issues on the agenda of the session are the law On Consumer Credit (Loans), a law aimed at easing the customs operations for luggage carried by air carriers (which amends the law On Customs Regulation in the Russian Federation), a bill improving the legal foundations of state regulation in the sphere of export control over dual-purpose products (the document amends the law On Export Control), and a bill improving the legislation on information security (the document amends the law On the Federal Security Service).
