MOSCOW. Dec 16 (Interfax-AVN) - The spent Russian satellite Molniya-3-45 may stop its ballistic existence and fall to Earth on the first days of 2014, a source from the information and analytical center of the Vympel Interstate Joint Stock Corporation of the Almaz-Antei Concern told Interfax-AVN on Monday.
Vympel specialists said earlier that the satellite might fall out of orbit on January 1, 2014.
"The prognosis for Molniya-3-45 is practically unchanged. This [event may happen] on the first days of January 2014. The prognosis has a certain degree of uncertainty. So far, the approximate date is January 3," the source said.
According to the U.S. space monitoring network, Molniya-3-45 (international number 1993-049A) may cease its ballistic existence on December 27.
