CSTO plans to establish collective air forces

MOSCOW. Dec 17 (Interfax-AVN) - The Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) is drafting regulatory documents in order to establish collective air forces, CSTO Secretary General Nikolai Bordyuzha said.

"Today we have a concept of creating these forces and we are dealing with the practical implementation of this decision - drafting a relevant agreement and regulatory acts, which will regulate their activities," Bordyuzha said in an interview with the Rossiya 24 (Russia 24) TV channel on Monday.

The main tasks of the collective air forces will be transporting and covering forces during special operations, Bordyuzha said.

"Following the creation of collective rapid response forces, we have come across the necessity to have transport components in order to hold some armed or special operations, for which we need to bring contingents from different countries to the spot in need. This is why the necessity of creating the CSTO collective air forces has emerged," Bordyuzha said.
