SEVERODVINSK. Dec 23 (Interfax-AVN) - The Alexander Nevsky nuclear-powered missile submarine of Project 955 Borei has been delivered to the Russian Navy, Defense Minister General of the Army Sergei Shoigu told Russian Armed Forces Supreme Commander, President Vladimir Putin from the submarine's board on Monday.
"State trials of the first serial nuclear-powered missile submarine of Project 955, the Alexander Nevsky, are over," the minister said.
"The trials confirmed the submarines' tactical and technical characteristics," he added. "The acceptance certificate has been signed. St. Andrew's flag has been hoisted above the submarine, which was transferred to the Navy. It is being attached to the permanent readiness forces," Shoigu said.
