Southern Military District gets another batch of Su-34 front-line bombers

MOSCOW. Dec 26 (Interfax-AVN) - A bomber aircraft regiment of the Southern Military District in the Rostov region has received another consignment of Sukhoi Su-34 advanced front-line bombers, the military district said in a press release seen by Interfax-AVN on Thursday.

"Six new airplanes, built at Novosibirsk's Valery Chkalov Aircraft Plant, which is a member of the Sukhoi Holding, arrived at the military airfield in the town of Morozovsk within a few days as part of the state defense order," it said.

Su-34 front-line bombers are able to fly longer distances than their predecessors, and are equipped with advanced navigation systems and new weapons guidance systems, according to the press release.

"As part of the 2013 state defense order, the Southern Military District received more than 20 combat and transport airplanes, both new and modernized ones," it said.
