Militants injure district police officer, detective in Dagestan

MAKHACHKALA. Dec 27 (Interfax) - A district police officer and a detective of the Russian Investigative Committee were attacked in Khasavyurt, Dagestan, on Thursday night, a source from the Dagestani Interior Ministry's press service told Interfax.

"The armed incident happened in Khasavyurt at approximately 11 p.m. on Thursday. Unknown men opened gunfire at the car of a district police officer and a detective of the Russian Investigative Committee. Both policemen were injured and taken to a hospital," he said.

The search for the assailants is underway.
