Two policemen charged with beating teenager for smoking

NOVOSIBIRSK. Dec 27 (Interfax) - A criminal case has been opened against patrolmen for beating a 17-year-old boy in the Novosibirsk region, the Russian Investigative Committee press service said.

A patrolman and a rookie of the Toguchinsky police department saw two teenagers smoking cigarettes near a school on December 25, 2013.

"They demanded that the young men admit doing drugs and hand over the drugs to them. The teenagers were put on a police vehicle, and one of them was beaten," the report said.

The patrolmen were accused of abusing their office and using violence (paragraph "a" part 3 article 286 of the Russian Criminal Code).
