TBILISI. Dec 27 (Interfax) - The possible "strong pressure" from Russia may complicate the upcoming year 2014, the Georgian Foreign Ministry said.
"We do not rule out strong pressure from Russia next year and we are preparing for that in constant consultations with our Western partners," Georgian Deputy Foreign Minister David Zalkaliani told the Parliament Foreign Relations Committee on Friday.
He gave a detailed account of the Geneva consultations on stability and security in the South Caucasus, which is the only format of communication between Tbilisi and Abkhazia and South Ossetia with the mediation of Russia, the United States and international organizations.
"The outgoing year witnessed the Abkhazian and South Ossetian attempts to diminish the significance of the Geneva process and even to cut the number of meetings held in that format, but our staunch position ensured the continuation of the negotiations," the deputy minister said.
