TBILISI. Dec 27 (Interfax-AVN) - Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili has appointed David Sudzhashvili as new head of the Georgian Intelligence Service.
Garibashvili met on Friday with former Intelligence Service Chief Gela Bezhuashvili and newly appointed David Sudzhashvili, the Georgian government press office said.
"The prime minister has thanked former Intelligence Service Chief Gela Bezhuashvili for the work he has done and has wished success to David Sudzhashvili. The prime minister said that the Intelligence Service is a priority in the state's development, that is why its budget will be increased by 3 million lari (about $2 million) in 2014," the press office said.
Up until today David Sudzhashvili headed the information and analysis department of the Georgian Interior Ministry. Sudzhashvili worked in the Georgian Intelligence Service from 1999-2012.
