Interior Ministry denies rumors about new explosions in Volgograd

VOLGOGRAD. Dec 30 (Interfax) - Residents of Volgograd are getting false information on new explosions on public transport, Svetlana Smolyaninova, an official with the Interior Ministry's Main Department for the Volgograd region, told Interfax.

"It's panic. No new explosions are happening. People are constantly calling the emergency services and asking if there have really been new explosions. This information is not confirmed," Smolyaninova said.

Smolyaninova said these rumors may be due to citizens' generally difficult psychological situation. She called on the people of Volgograd to stay calm.
