Counterterrorism restrictions lifted in Stavropol territory

PYATIGORSK. Jan 13 (Interfax) - Counterterrorism restrictions, introduced in the Stavropol territory following the murders of six people on January 8, have been lifted, the Stavropol territory crisis center said in a statement.

"The legal counterterrorism regime was lifted at 3:35 p.m. on January 11 at the border of settlements of Etoksky and Pyatigorsky, village councils of the Predgorny district, the villages of Zolsky and Staropavlovsky and the village of Mariynskaya in the Kirovsky district and the village of Nizhnepodkumsky, which is part of the resort town of Pyatigorsk," the document said.

It has been decided to lift the counterterrorism operation, the crisis center said.

Investigative proceedings continue over the crimes committed. Territorial structures of the federal authorities of security and law enforcement sector continue working in an enhanced regime, the statement said.

It has been reported that on January 8 between 0:30 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. four VAZ vehicles with six bodies with gunshot wounds were found in two settlements of the Kirovsky and Predgorny districts of the Stavropol territory. A home-made explosive device went off near one of the cars. No one was injured. Another homemade bomb was found and destroyed by a robot.

Regional police have received an APB with pictures of three individuals suspected of committing these crimes - three residents of the village of Svetlovodskoye of Kabardino-Balkaria, a law enforcement source has told Interfax.
