MOSCOW. Jan 13 (Interfax) - Moscow hopes that the implementation of the first stage of Iran's agreements with the six negotiators due to begin on January 20, will allow it to work out further steps that will enable the Iranian nuclear problem to finally be settled, the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
"We hope that the successful realization of the priority phase will create the necessary conditions for the elaboration of yet further agreements that will result in a final and comprehensive settlement of the situation around the Iranian nuclear program," the ministry said in a statement posted on its website.
"The first stage of the Geneva accord is due to take effect on January 20," the ministry said.
"Designed to run for six months, it will allow us to settle a number of the Sextet's primary concerns regarding Iran's nuclear program and strengthen international control over Tehran's nuclear activity. The countersteps on the part of the U.S. and EU envisage relaxation of the unilateral sanctions regime against Iran," the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
We are satisfied that experts from the six negotiating nations and Iran, along with representatives from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), have managed to agree on all technical details and modalities of the implementation of the first phase of the Joint Plan of Action of November 24, 2013, the Russian ministry said.
