ASHGABAT. Jan 17 (Interfax) - Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow has strictly reprimanded National Security Minister Yaylym Berdiyew and State Migration Service Chairman Dovrangeldi Bayramov for the unsatisfactory fulfillment of their duties and flawed performance.
The presidential directives were published by national newspapers on Friday.
State Migration Service Chairman Dovrangeldi Bayramov was demoted to the rank of lieutenant colonel for weakening control over the operation of subordinate units. The service head was warned him that he would be dismissed unless he soon eliminated these shortcomings.
The decisions were made at the first meeting of the Turkmen State Security Council of this year. The meeting appraised the performance of the armed forces and the law enforcement authorities in 2013 and drew up an action plan for the accomplishment of their important duties.
The president listened to the reports of State Security Council members about the fulfillment of earlier instructions and the sweeping military reform and stressed that sovereign Turkmenistan would be adherent to its neutral status delegated by the international community as a key factor of peace and stability in Central Asia.
"Our army must be a school of genuine patriotism and courage and Turkmen servicemen must be a model of physical and moral perfection, high morals and heroism," Berdimuhamedow stressed.
