MOSCOW. Jan 17 (Interfax) - Damascus has asked the Russian Foreign Ministry for its assistance in the approval of the Aleppo ceasefire plan.
"I have requested that Minister Lavrov have the contacts necessary for the implementation of this plan and the setting of a precise timeframe for the cessation of all military operations in that region," Syrian Foreign Minister Walid al-Mualem told a press conference in Moscow on Friday after his negotiations with Russian colleague Sergei Lavrov.
He also said he had informed Lavrov about the readiness of the Syrian authorities to exchange POW lists with the opposition and "to design a mechanism required for the achievement of these goals."
