Internal Syrian opposition must be represented at Geneva II - Lavrov

MOSCOW. Jan 17 (Interfax) - The internal Syrian opposition must be represented at Geneva II, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said.

"There is no reason why the opposition activists who have never left Syria and who act in the political field of the Syrian state on its territory should be outsiders. From the very beginning of the preparations for Geneva II, we have said and we continue to say now that the internal opposition must be represented at the conference, especially the National Coordination Committee and the structures uniting the Syrian Kurds," Lavrov told a press conference in Moscow on Thursday following a meeting with his Syrian counterpart Walid Mualem.
