MOSCOW. Jan 20 (Interfax) - The National Defense Center will be the keynote link of control over the country's defense network and unite departmental supervision and monitoring systems, the Russian Defense Ministry's press service and information department said.
"The Russian National Defense Center jointly with the federal executive authorities will make decisions regarding defense, supervision over daily operations of the Armed Forces and other troops and their comprehensive provision," the ministry said.
"The primary objective of the prospective center is the efficient coordination of the activity of all federal ministries and departments of Russia in the interests of national defense and security," it stressed.
The National Defense Center project will employ innovative solutions, "which will meet defense organization needs for the next 20-25 years," the ministry said. "An emphasis will be put on laying the scientific and technological groundwork for command centers of all subordinate and interacting military control bodies and the state authorities," the ministry indicated.
The technological potential of the center will allow for the real-time supply of information from the entire territory of Russia, the analysis of possible scenarios, and the on-time detection of trends and development of the situation in the interests of strategic and operative planning and decision making by the national administration in the peace and war time, the ministry reported.
