Tactical exercise underway in southern Kyrgyzstan

OSH. Jan 20 (Interfax-AVN) - Military drills are being held in the Batken region of southern Kyrgyzstan, Kyrgyz Defense Ministry told Interfax on Monday.

"Tactical drills are being held at Military Unit No.30630 in the Batken region under the command of Melis Satybaldiyev, chief of the Defense Ministry's Southwestern Command ," a ministry spokesmen said.

"The drill aims to perfect combat techniques to localize and destroy criminal armed groups," he said.

"The exercise involves a mountain company, artillery and mortar units, a tank platoon, and an armed special brigade," the spokesman said.
