Protesters peacefully communicate with riot police near Kyiv's Dynamo stadium

KYIV. Jan 21 (Interfax) - Several dozen people, mostly women, have crossed the line separating protesters and riot police in Kyiv's Hrushevsky Street and are peacefully communicating with the representatives of law enforcement agencies.

Protesters and riot police remain in a tense standoff on Hrushevsky Street. Violent clashes stopped last night only after priests stood between the police lines and protesters.

Riot police units sheltering under shields have cordoned off Hrushevsky Street near the entrance to the Dynamo stadium, an Interfax correspondent said.

Protesters, among them elderly people, are walking in front of them. They are trying to strike up a conversation, and policemen answer them from time to time.

Several priests are standing on the protesters' side.

Young people wearing balaclavas can be seen in the distance.

There are four ambulances in European Square. Police keep calling on people to refrain from committing any unlawful acts.
