Abbas: Palestine ready to extend talks with Israel

MOSCOW. Jan 21 (Interfax) - Palestine's readiness to extend talks on the Palestinian-Israeli settlement by another month reflects positive trends in the talks, but in the event of failure they will be suspended, said Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas.

"Whether or not the talks will be extended depends on a successful breakthrough and noticeable progress which requires a completion. Results will be seen then in the attainment of the set goals. If the talks are a failure, which we do not want to happen, they will definitely be suspended and we will get back to our alternative variants," Abbas said in an interview with Interfax ahead of his visit to Russia.
