Russia backs Ukrainian administration's intention to peacefully resolve situation in country

MOSCOW. Jan 21 (Interfax) - Russian and Ukrainian diplomats discussed the situation in Ukraine on Tuesday.

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Grigory Karasin had a phone conversation with Ukrainian First Deputy Foreign Minister Ruslan Demchenko on January 21, the Russian Foreign Ministry reported.

"The diplomats discussed the situation in Ukraine and expressed their concerns about the actions of sabotage taken by the radical opposition. The Russian diplomat backed the official statement by the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry stating the Ukrainian administration's intention to make maximum effort to peacefully resolve this situation through dialogue," the ministry said in a report posted on its website.

The diplomats also discussed other international issues and issues related to bilateral Russian-Ukrainian cooperation.
