KYIV. Jan 22 (Interfax) - Ukrainian opposition leaders Arseny Yatsenyuk and Oleh Tyahnybok have met with Prosecutor General Viktor Pshonka and discussed the situation in the country.
In particular, Pshonka, Yatsenyuk, and Tyahnybok discussed the way the situation in the center of Kyiv has been developing since Sunday and the disappearance of 40 activists, the Prosecutor General's Office press service told Interfax.
The opposition leaders could not present the list of the missing activists, it said.
The participants in the meeting also discussed the disappearance of the Maidan opposition group activist Ihor Lutsenko.
"The prosecutor general said with reference to information from the Interior Ministry that he is not among those detained by police," the Prosecutor General's Office press service said, adding that police were searching for Lutsenko, and the matter is beyond the prosecutors' jurisdiction.
The opposition leaders said they would forward a parliamentary inquiry to the Prosecutor General's Office to get the statistics of all those detained in connection with the events that have taken place on Hrushevsky Street in Kyiv since Sunday.
The Prosecutor General's Office said the participants also talked about the enforcement of the law exempting participants in mass events from criminal liability, which will take effect on Wednesday.
