Authorities will respond to law violations by Kyiv protestors - minister

KYIV. Jan 22 (Interfax) - The Ukrainian authorities will respond to the law violation by protestors on Hrushevsky Street in central Kyiv, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Leonid Kozhara said.

"Today Ukraine is seeing the violation of its effective legislation by radical forces. And the Ukrainian government, the authorities will not leave such serious violations without due legal assessment and response," Kozhara said at a meeting with foreign ambassadors in Kyiv on Wednesday.

The authorities' reaction will be in line with the effective legislation, he added.

The reaction of several foreign states to a piece of legislation passed by the parliament on January 16 has been "hasty" and we expect from our foreign partners a reaction calling on extremist groups to renounce the use of violence, the foreign minister said.
