MONTREUX (Switzerland). Jan 22 (Interfax) - Syrian Foreign Minister Walid al-Mualem has thanked Russia, China and the other BRICS countries (Brazil, India, South Africa) for the support being extended to Damascus during the conflict.
"I want to thank Russia and China who support Syria's sovereignty and act in strict compliance with the UN (United Nations) charter," the minister told a conference on the peaceful Syrian conflict resolution in Montreux on Wednesday.
"Russia has proved itself as a true friend," al-Mualem said.
He also thanked Iran, Iraq and the other BRICS countries for the aid being provided to Syria.
