Russia expects confirmation of info on detention of its citizens while crossing Syrian-Turkish border

MOSCOW. Jan 22 (Interfax) - The Russian Embassy in Ankara has still not received confirmation of reports on the detention of Russian citizens at the Syrian-Turkish border.

"We learned this information from the Turkish General Staff's website. We have not yet received additional information, nor have we received confirmation that these people are Russian citizens," the embassy told Interfax.

The embassy has asked Turkey for more information on the matter and expects to receive an answer soon, it said.

The General Staff of the Turkish Armed Forces reported on Tuesday that 2 Russians illegally entering Turkey from Syria had been detained.
