KRASNOGORSK. Jan 28 (Interfax) - Russia's unified emergency prevention and response system has already proven its effectiveness, and its main task this year is to ensure security during the upcoming Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games in the Russian Black Sea resort of Sochi, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said.
"The unified emergency prevention and response system has been proven to be effective and reliable in very complicated situations," Medvedev said at a session of the Russian Emergency Situations Ministry in Krasnogorsk, Moscow region, on Tuesday.
This system's mechanism is actually working and helps save human lives, he said.
"This year is setting new tasks for this system. The main event both on a national and global scale is the Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games. The unified emergency prevention and response system will work along with other agencies to maintain security during this international sports festival," the Russian prime minister said.
