MOSCOW. Jan 29 (Interfax-AVN) - A criminal case has been opened over the death of privates Pavel Kalinin and Ilya Morozov from double pneumonia, the Main Military Investigative Department of the Russian Investigative Committee said.
"The servicemen died at the hospital on January 20, 2014, despite comprehensive therapy they had been receiving, from multiple organ failure caused by viral double pneumonia," says the department report received by Interfax-AVN on Wednesday.
The infectious disease department of the 1,586th military clinical hospital of the Russian Defense Ministry admitted private P. Kalinin of military unit 41516 on December 23 with a diagnosis of double pneumonia, the detectives said.
The same hospital admitted on January 8 private Morozov from the Ostrogozhsk training center (coaching junior specialists of the mechanized service) of the Omsk Mechanized Engineering Institute of a branch of the General of the Army A.V. Khrulev Military Supplies and Logistics Academy with a diagnosis of "a minor case of community acquired pneumonia of the superior lobe of the left lung".
The Military Investigation Department of the Russian Investigative Committee in the Podolsk Garrison opened criminal cases over the death of privates P. Kalinin and I. Morozov at the 1,586th military clinical hospital of the Russian Defense Ministry under Part 2, Article 293 of the Russian Criminal Code (causing death by negligence), the report said.
A complex forensic medical examination has been scheduled and other investigative procedures are being implemented to discover details of the incident. The investigation continues, the department said.
