Geneva II not paying enough attention to Kurdish issue - National Coalition member

MOSCOW. Jan 29 (Interfax) - The participants in the Geneva II international conference on Syria have not attached enough significance to the Kurdish issue, says Radwan Badini, a member of the delegation of the National Coalition for Syrian Revolutionary and Opposition Forces.

"The Kurdish issue has still not been discussed here," Badini told Interfax on Wednesday.

"We don't want to fall victim to somebody else's interests," he said.

"It would be appropriate to cite Mr. Lavrov as pointing very clearly and correctly to the absence of part of the Kurdish community and the absence of interest of both negotiating parties to the problem of Kurds," he said.

"Regardless of the National Coalition leadership's political viewpoint, the Kurds as a whole highly value Russia's role in that it is demanding that the Kurds be part of the negotiations in Geneva," he said.

Members of the Kurdish National Council, a major association of Syrian Kurds, are holding negotiations to secure their participation in the Geneva talks, he said.
