Putin, Merkel stress unacceptability of any outside interference in relation to situation in Ukraine

MOSCOW. Jan 30 (Interfax) - President Vladimir Putin and German Chancellor Angela Merkel had a telephone conversation on Wednesday, the Kremlin press service reports.

"In relation to the situation in Ukraine the unacceptability of any outside interference was stressed," the report says.

"Support was expressed for efforts aimed at the political settlement of the crisis in Syria in the framework of the Geneva II process. Hope for further progress in negotiations was expressed in relation to the Iranian nuclear problem," it says.

"In the course of exchanging opinions about the outcome of the Russia-EU summit in Brussels on Tuesday the sides stressed the importance of developing relations of strategic partnership and resolving all arising questions in a business-like and constructive sprit," the press service reports.
