MOSCOW. Jan 31(Interfax) - Moscow is calling on the parties to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict to stabilize the situation, the aggravation of which might have negative consequences for the settlement process.
"We are concerned by the aggravation of the situation in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict zone," the Russian Foreign Ministry's Department of Information and Press said in a commentary posted on the ministry's website on Thursday.
The recent rise in cases of cease-fire violations on the border and contact line has resulted in losses among troops, the document said. Several civilians have been injured.
"We believe that in the event of further escalation of tensions negative consequences for the Nagorno-Karabakh settlement process are inevitable. The implementation of the agreements reached at the Azeri-Armenian summit in Vienna on November 19, 2013, could be seriously complicated," the commentary said.
The conflicting sides must "take additional measures aimed at stabilizing the situation, including the mechanisms envisaged by the February 4, 1995 agreement bolstering the cease-fire," the statement said.
