MOSCOW. Feb 4 (Interfax) - The Syrian opposition wants the second round of inter-Syrian negotiations in Geneva to involve certain working groups that would tackle technical and political issues in parallel.
The secretary general of the National Coalition for Syrian Revolutionary and Opposition Forces, Badr Jamous, told Interfax upon arrival in Moscow, where he is expected to meet with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and other officials on Tuesday, that the coalition had even suggested that technical issues, including humanitarian aid, should be discussed along with political matters.
The coalition does not want to separate these issues, but would like these processes to take place simultaneously and in parallel, Jamous said.
Some members of the Syrian opposition's delegation have not yet arrived in Moscow.
What counts most is to secure serious commitment at the next round because this serious commitment was absent at the first round, Jamous said.
During the first round, Syria's government and opposition delegation kept skipping from one topic to another - from terrorism to humanitarian aid, he said.
The regime of Syria's President Bashar al-Assad wants to center on discussing humanitarian relief, thus avoiding discussions on political problems, he said.
The regime is interested in dragging the opposition into discussions on ways to provide humanitarian supplies, Jamous said.
But it is the international community's responsibility, Jamous said. Millions of people in Syria are starving, he said, adding that it is a matter for the UN.
