National Coalition takes part in Geneva II despite pressure from Damascus - Jarba

MOSCOW. Feb 4 (Interfax) - The Syrian authorities tried to stop the National Coalition for Syrian Revolutionary and Opposition Forces (NCSROF) delegation from coming to Geneva for negotiations, the NCSROF said.

"We came despite those bombings, despite those killings that were happening in Aleppo, in Homs, in other parts of Syria. The regime is doing all it can to put pressure on us, to prevent us from traveling," the Syrian National Coalition chief, Ahmad Jarba, told a press conference at the Interfax head office.

Unlike the Syrian authorities, the National Coalition has already confirmed its willingness to come for the second round of Geneva II which is expected to begin on February 10, he said.

"We said at the talks that we shall go back on February 10 for the second round. As for the regime, its delegation said it will go back to Damascus and then see which position to take further. But it is their business," the opposition leader said.
