YEKATERINBURG. Feb 5 (Interfax-AVN) - The Central Military District (CMD) Commander Col. Gen. Nikolai Bogdanovsky has ordered that a number of formations and military units deployed in the Volga Federal District be put on alert on Wednesday, CMD Commander Aide Col. Yaroslav Roshchupkin told Interfax-AVN.
"A number of military groups have been put on alert today. Very soon they are to march many kilometers and practice live firing," the district representative said.
The main objective is "a comprehensive check of the combat skills of the Motor Rifle and Artillery formations, as well as of the aerospace defense, special-purpose and supply brigades," he said.
The plan over the next five days is to check the readiness of the formations and military units, to fulfill the set tasks within the shortest possible period of time and to assess the level of combat readiness and cohesiveness of the subdivisions, Roshchupkin said.
