MOSCOW. Feb 5 (Interfax-AVN) - The fifth Sukhoi Superjet 100 aircraft has landed in Mexico on February 2 and joined the SSJ100 fleet of Interjet, a Mexican airline company, Sukhoi Civil Aircraft said in a press release obtained by Interfax on Wednesday.
"After its customization at SuperJet International's hanger in Venice (Italy) the aircraft (the manufacturer's number 95034) was ferried from Marco Polo Airport to Toluca (Mexico), the base airport of the Interjet airline company. This flight was performed with technical stops at Keflavik (Iceland) and Bangor (Maine, U.S.). The aircraft has once again proved its high technical flight characteristics on long-haul routes," the statement said.
Throughout their use, which began on September 18, 2013, Interjet's first four SSJ100 aircraft have demonstrated 99% reliability, with the aircraft spending nine hours per day in the air. To date, the SSJ100 aircraft being used by the airline company have flown over 2,500 flight hours to seven destinations across Mexico (Mexico City, Torreon, Aguascalientes, Campeche, Minatitlan, Zacatecas and Mazatlan).
The sixth and seventh aircraft due to be supplied to Interjet are in the last stages of completing customization at SuperJet International's production facilities in Italy.
Interjet ordered 20 SSJ100s plus ten options for 93 passenger seats (the seat pitch is 34 inches). The exclusive and comfortable interior has been designed by Italy's Pininfarina. SSJ100 was designed and produced by Sukhoi Civil Aircraft in partnership with Alenia Aermacchi, using the most advanced Western technologies and systems, with high-level comfort, available in the 100-seat aircraft segment.
