Baltic Fleet preparing for tank biathlon

KALININGRAD. Feb 5 (Interfax-AVN) - Tank crews of a motorized infantry unit of the Baltic Fleet coastal forces are preparing to take part in the tank biathlon event.

More than 100 servicemen of the separate armor battalion are training at a fleet range. More than 20 wheeled and track vehicles are involved in the exercises, the fleet press service said.

The exercises are a part of the routine training at the armor unit. Servicemen are practicing on an obstacle course consisting of craters, ditches, trenches and mine fields.

Targets were installed, shooting ranges were created and a field camp for tank crews was deployed at the range. Firing at moving and collapsible targets on the move will be practiced soon.

The Baltic Fleet will hold the tank biathlon qualifications in the middle of April. The best crews will represent the fleet coastal forces in the Western Military District competition.
