Meeting with Georgian president possible - Putin

SOCHI. Feb 10 (Interfax) - President Vladimir Putin said a meeting with Georgian President Giorgy Margvelashvili is quite possible.

A Georgian journalist asked Putin after he arrived at the Sochi media center for talks with members of the public council for preparing and holding the Olympic Games, whether he was planning to meet with the Georgian president.

"If he wishes, why not?" Putin said.

Putin also said that Russia is happy to see the Georgian Olympic team at the Olympic Games.

"Moreover, I see this as a very good sign. It is an instance when Olympic Games help build relations which seemed unfeasible or extremely difficult," Putin said.

Putin said that air services resumed fully from Tbilisi to Sochi.

"We have made our minds up to maintain this practice after the games," he said.

This is a plus already gained from the Olympic Games, he said.

"The Olympic Games help build relations. I am glad this is so and we wish successes to the Georgian athletes. They always do well in summer games, especially in combat sports," he said, adding that the Georgian team is among the world's leaders in his favorite sport, judo.

"We hope they will demonstrate their best here and we wish them success," Putin said.
