MOSCOW. Feb 11 (Interfax) - Israel is concerned about the delays in moving chemical weapons from Syria and considers the timeline of the operation incorrectly composed and considers the actions of official Damascus as the reasons behind it, the Israeli Foreign Ministry's Eurasia Department Head Anna Azari said.
"Of course, any delays and setbacks in the timeline concern us a lot. We hope that the delays, which currently occur, do not show any deviation from the implementation of the program itself," Azari said in an interview with Interfax.
When asked what, in her opinion, was the reason for the delay and whether it was caused by a poorly drafted timeline initially or the actions of official Damascus, Azari said: "This operation is very difficult from a technical point of view but it is necessary to watch that everything does not turn into a game, which is being dragged out intentionally due to political motives. The truth is probably somewhere in the middle, as always."
As to the destruction of the Syrian chemical weapons in general, "this process has important moments - the first one is that the timeline of moving the chemical weapons is not dragged out and the second is that everything is moved," Azari said.
Israel is not involved in this operation, Azari said.
"I also want to note that Russia is participating actively in the process of moving chemical weapons from Syria. This is why it is extremely important for us to be in contact with Moscow in this regard," Azari said.
