BRUSSELS. Feb 14 (Interfax) - Russia and the United States said they intended to assist advancing talks on the Syrian settlement in Geneva, UN and Arab League Special Representative for Syria Lakhdar Brahimi said at a news conference on Thursday following a meeting with Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Gennady Gatilov and U.S. Under Secretary of State Wendy Sherman.
Russia and the U.S. have confirmed their support of the efforts and have promised to help in Geneva, in capitals and other sites in order to unblock the process because for now it has not advanced much, Brahimi said.
Russia is not opposed to discussing parallel issues of forming an interim government and fighting terrorism during the inter-Syrian negotiations, Brahimi said.
