KYIV. Feb 14 (Interfax) - Representatives of the UDAR party do not intend to join a new Ukrainian government if current Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych remains in power, UDAR leader Vitaliy Klitschko said.
"In no way we are going to become one of the screws of the current authorities. We are ready to take responsibility upon ourselves solely if the authorities, which have utterly discredited themselves, are rebooted," the UDAR press office quoted Klitschko as saying on Thursday.
It is possible to form technical government solely following the return of the Ukrainian Constitution of 2004, Klitschko said.
"We do not want at all that faces change and the system remains the same. We have witnessed many times that some figures are replaced by others and the issues, which existed, remain. We are talking about the reboot of the entire system and the balance of the Ukrainian authorities. After this it will be possible to talk about forming a technical interim government so that we understand clearly what reforms we can implement and what results for Ukraine will be," Klitschko said.
As to the plans of the opposition in case the authorities do not amnesty all activists detained, Klitschko said: "We have done everything to stop physical resistance at Hrushevsky [Street]. Quiet continues there today. But if all people detained and arrested illegally are not released and cases regarding them are not closed, this will mean the disruption of the talks and a new wave of the escalation. And the entire responsibility for this will be on the authorities and firstly Yanukovych."
