KYIV. Feb 14 (Interfax) - The Ternopil District Administrative Court has reversed 12 decisions by local self-governments recognizing People's Radas, a spokesperson for the Ternopil Regional Prosecutor's Office said on Thursday.
In all, prosecutors appealed against 15 decisions by local governments across the region, the statement said. Also, the Berezhany District Council has reversed its illegitimate decision on its own, having agreed with the prosecutors' claims.
The latest court resolution was made on Thursday in a case over the illegal decision by the Zboriv District Council on January 29, 2014. "The court recognized that the district council's decision recognizing the People's Rada as a collegial body authorized to represent the interests of the Ukrainian people is illegal because it contradicts the Ukrainian Constitution and the existing laws and is outside the remit of a local self-government," the spokesperson said.
The court decision was made on the ground that the Ukrainian laws do not stipulate a form of exercise of people's power such as People's Rada and its recognition as a body representing people's interests is not in the remit of the district council, the statement said.
